Oh yes...South Island Line East Section (SIL(E)) will operate with 10 sets of specially designed C-stock with 3 cars for each set. The procuement of this 10 sets of SIL(E) is from the same contract as 8-car C-stock.

In the coming future there is no any news that MTR will but C-stock. Now MTR is tendering 78 sets of new cars (+ agreement of making 30 sets more in the future for company which get the tender) as I mentioned before. I heard that Rotem, Kawasaki, Nippon Sharyo and some European companies are interested in it. Since CSR and CNR are preparing to merge to form a new company - CRRC (named China Railway Rolling Stock Corp), there is no news that CSR/CNR/CRRC will join the tender. Just few weeks before, it is heard that MTR is still deciding whether to buy new sets or to re-refurbish the current M-stock to fit the new signaling system.
btw, Actually I want to come to take a ride on Hokutosei before it stop operating...the blue speeper train from JNR is just wonderful...
